This page offers an in-depth analysis of the monthly E.coli results from throughout the watershed. Each of the watersheds' monthly figures are an average determined from several sites along the stream.
Because E.coli levels are only able to be determined through incubation, it is hard to get a real-time reading. This is why it is important when using our rivers for recreation to understand how rainfall events impact these levels. For the most part, E.coli can only survive in the water column for around 48 hours, less when the water is cold. This page is intended to help recreational users of our waterways understand the relationship between rain events and bacteria levels in the waterways they enjoy.
Additionally, these pages are intended to help homeowners see how rain events negatively impact our rivers and learn ways to reduce pulse-flows and nutrient runoff in their own homes.
